Mariah Carey hasn't celebrated her birthday for decades.

During a recent interview, the "Fantasy" hitmaker revealed that she doesn't make a big deal out of birthdays because she refuses to acknowledge the passage of time. As far as she's concerned, she doesn't even have a birthday.

"I don't have a birthday, no. That is true. I just don't believe in it."

Although she doesn't celebrate aging, the "Emotions" songstress is a fan of anniversaries.

True Mariah Carey fans know she's stood by this belief for years. In 2014, Out Magazine asked the 56-year-old sensation about her birthday, and she responded with how old she felt.

"I'm eternally 12 years old. I don't count years, but I definitely rebuke them--I have anniversaries, not birthdays, because I celebrate life, darling." In addition to her stance on growing older, Carey also has a strong opinion about lighting.

In 2024, the icon sat down with iHeartRadio's "Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang" and shared her thoughts on fluorescent overhead lighting.

"Listen, I can't with the overhead lighting. Why do they do it to us? And I shouldn't even say us, because it's not us, it's me. I'm the one that gets the most tortured by the hideous lighting in every elevator, doorway, gyms. Not that I go the gym, but I'm just saying it's hideous lighting. But, overhead lighting — I don't think so, honey. Please, stop it. Every place I go I — shut the lights! Turn them out. I don't wanna see them. No more. No more, baby."
